Future Plans

As the Maleny Community Centre celebrates its 100th birthday, it is fitting that we commence the task of renovating and upgrading the existing Community Centre to provide an all encompassing arts and cultural facility that will service the Hinterland for the next 50 years.

The First Stage now completed involved the removal of the absestos and recladding of the Hall, a significant redevelopment of the southern Bicentenary Lane side of the existing hall, and an extension and improvement to the rooms as the rear of the Hall.

The Verandah Room (previously known as the Seniors Room) was renovated to include the following:-

1. A new disabled-friendly laneway entry.

2. Upgrade of the toilet facilities to disabled status

3. Covered verandah with laneway access

Improvements to the Main Hall included:-

1. A pop-out provision for housing 250 chairs in off hall storage on LHS of the hall

2. A new multipurpose Green Room behind the stage, including changing area for on stage players

3. Improvements internally to existing hall ventilation and lighting.

The Second Stage

Will be to rebuild the Maple Street frontage including two storeys with verandah over footpath, and is subject to the necessary approvals. Estimate $1,300,000.

Commence 2011/12

The Third Stage
